autobook.io vs Shiftly Auto: Pricing, Posting and Proof Compared (2026)

Short answer: buy autobook.io if you want the price and the posting method in front of you before you connect a personal Facebook account. Shiftly publishes neither — pricing sits behind a custom quote and the architecture isn't disclosed on their site. autobook.io is our product, so treat every line below as a claim to check against both vendors' own pages.

Disclosure: we make one of the two tools in this comparison. Everything attributed to Shiftly comes from their own site as of August 2026, or is labeled as coming from customers who have used both. Where they do not publish something, it says "not published" — that means unknown, not missing.

Who are these two?

Shiftly Auto sells Facebook Marketplace posting to dealerships. Their site publishes adoption and outcome figures — 4,000+ users, 25× ROI — and gates pricing behind a quote request. Third-party software listings put it around $129 a month, which we cannot verify and neither can you until you ask them. How the posting happens — browser extension, desktop app, or their servers — isn't stated on the site.

autobook.io is a Chrome extension plus an inventory platform, built in Chicago since 2024. The extension posts from your own browser, your own IP and the Facebook account you're already logged into, in batches of up to 50, with a default 30-second gap between listings and a pacing setting whose recommended option is labeled "most human-like pacing." The platform does the front half: it imports your inventory, writes descriptions, and optionally re-renders photos. Plans are $99, $199 and $299 a month, published on the pricing page.

We're not the cheap option in this market. Lazy Poster starts at $47 and ZenLite at $69, both published. Our argument is what $99 buys, and what you can confirm before you spend it.

What actually decides this one?

Strip out the feature rows and this pairing comes down to a single question: how much can you verify before you commit a personal Facebook account to a piece of software?

Two things are unknowable from Shiftly's site today, and both are ordinary things for a buyer to want.

The first is price. Quote-gated pricing is normal in dealer software — vAuto, DealerSocket and most of the enterprise stack sell that way, and a quote lets a vendor scope rooftops and seats properly. The cost is comparison friction. You cannot sit down with four vendor tabs open and do the arithmetic; you have to book a call for the first number. If ~$129 a month from a third-party listing is close, that's real money against a published $99, and worth confirming from the source rather than from an aggregator.

The second is architecture, and it matters more. A posting tool either drives Facebook from a browser on your machine or drives it from somewhere else. Extensions post from your session, your IP, your login, and require your browser to stay open. Cloud tools hold a session on their infrastructure, which is more convenient and asks for more trust. Either way the account is yours and Facebook's Commerce Policies apply to you, not to the vendor — the tradeoffs of each model are laid out in the safety comparison. What you should not do is find out which model you bought after the first restriction email.

So if you take a Shiftly demo, three questions get you most of the way:

  • Is this an extension, a desktop app, or does the posting happen on your servers?
  • If it's your servers, where does my Facebook session live and who else can reach it?
  • What's the monthly price at my rep count and my inventory size, in writing?

Ask us the same three. Extension. Your Facebook session never leaves your browser — the posting runs there, under your login, on your connection — while your imported inventory lives on our platform. And $99 for Pro with 300 credits. An import costs 2 credits and a post costs 1, so Pro covers 100 vehicles imported and posted. Add an AI description and a vehicle is 4 credits; add two re-rendered photos and it's 8. Top-ups are $20 for 100 credits, $45 for 250, $80 for 500. You can do that math in your head before anyone calls you.

Our numbers are on the table. Theirs are on their homepage.

Shiftly's 4,000+ users and 25× ROI are static claims — figures typed onto a page. That's how this entire market advertises. CARVID publishes "73+ dealerships," QuickPost "4,500+," Lazy Poster "8,000+ members," Drift a "99.9% account safety" rate. None of it updates, none of it is auditable, and we're not calling any of it false. We're saying it's unfalsifiable, which is a different problem.

Under this article is a band showing how many dealers and salespeople are on autobook.io, how many vehicles have been posted, how many sold, and the ratio between the last two. It's read from production at render time and refreshes on its own. The numbers move — dealer and sold counts both changed in a single day during testing. Nobody else in this market publishes anything comparable, and that gap is the strongest thing we have to say for ourselves.

Now the honest half of that. A live number is only worth what you can hold it against, and there's nothing to hold it against — no vendor in this category publishes sold volume, so ours has no benchmark. It shows we measure the thing that matters. On its own it doesn't prove we beat anybody, and we're not going to pretend it does.

Two more caveats we would rather say than have you discover. Roughly one in nine posted vehicles sells network-wide, and individual stores land all over that. When we analyzed 722 sold units, the spread between dealers was roughly eight times wider than the spread between price bands — who posts the units, and how consistently, predicts speed to sale far better than what the units are. A tool that posts isn't a tool that sells. Every vendor here, us included, is selling the posting half.

When is Shiftly the better fit?

Four cases. In each one, the answer is them.

You want sold listings pulled down for you. Shiftly publishes sold alerts and listing removal. We do not do that job at all — we renew listings, we never delete them, and we do not sync prices on live ones either. If dead listings piling up under your profile is the thing that annoys you most, that's a straight point against us.

You buy software through procurement. If your group runs on quotes, POs and a negotiated scope across several rooftops, a published $99 plan card isn't how you buy anything. A quote-based vendor is built for exactly that conversation, and the friction we complained about above is just the process you already use.

You are outside the United States. autobook.io is US only. Not "US first" — US only. That disqualifies us entirely regardless of anything else on this page, and it's worth asking Shiftly directly about coverage in your market rather than assuming either way.

You want a human on a call before you spend anything. Our support is email with a 24-hour response, plus guided tutorials in the product for import, extension setup and the first post. That's a real answer, and for some buyers it's the wrong one. A quote process usually puts a person on a call with you first.

When are we the better fit?

For the reader this page was written for — a salesperson or an independent store in the US, spending their own money, wanting listings up this week — autobook.io is the better buy, and the reasons are all checkable.

You paste your dealership website URL and the platform reads your inventory. Across 25,817 vehicles imported in 90 days it returned a VIN on 99.5%, a real price on 97.7%, mileage on 98.2% and photos on 94.3%, at a median of 20 photos per vehicle. A 100-vehicle store usually takes five to ten minutes. If your site isn't supported yet, we add it, usually inside 24 hours. About 6% of vehicles arrive with no photos and need a hand — that's the part nobody advertises.

The photo work is the difference we can describe in the most detail. Ours is a paid, opt-in step at 2 credits per image, applied to the units worth it, not a switch that runs on everything. It replaces the background with a studio scene, removes the plate and the plate frame, adds reflections and shadows, and preserves the actual car — including aftermarket wheels, lift kits and body work. A classifier sorts interior shots from exterior and leaves interiors alone, because buyers are meticulous about the space they will sit in. Per customers who have used both, Shiftly's is basic background removal; it's not described on their site, so ask to see a before-and-after on one of your own modified units.

Then posting stays in your hands. Your browser, your IP, your account, batches of 50, and a renewal pass that scans your Facebook listings page and lets you review before it clicks anything. No autobook.io customer has had their Facebook account banned — our record so far, not a promise about decisions Facebook has not made yet. Reviews sit on the Chrome Web Store at 5.0 stars from 5 ratings — quoted with the count, because a bare star average off five reviews is exactly the kind of number we just criticized.

What you do not get from us: no inbox, no CRM, no AI replies, no templates in the product. No auto-removal of sold listings and no price syncing on live ones. No DMS connection. No boats. Most reps spend around 40 minutes a day answering buyers in Messenger, and that stays yours. It removes the grind, not the job — Adam at a Nissan store in Pompano Beach put it as "I thought it was a scam," then "not even a month, five deals." The deals were still his.

The recommendation: if you're a US salesperson or independent dealer choosing between these two, start with autobook.io. You can read the price, read the architecture, and read the sold numbers before you spend a dollar, and no demo call is required to do it. Take a Shiftly quote if you buy through procurement, if you need sold listings taken down for you, or if you're outside the US and we are not an option. Wider context on the category sits in our comparison of the nine posting tools, and the per-rep model is laid out in the salesperson's playbook.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Shiftly cost?

They do not publish it. Pricing is a quote request, and third-party software listings show roughly $129 a month — a secondhand figure that we would not budget against without hearing it from Shiftly. autobook.io is $99 a month for Pro, $199 for Elite, $299 for Ultimate, with $49 covering a first month on Pro. There is no free trial on our side; Drift, Owini and ZenLite all publish one, and we do not compete on that.

Does Shiftly post through my own browser or from their servers?

Not disclosed on their site, so ask them before you connect an account. It determines whose session is holding your Facebook login and where the posting traffic comes from. autobook.io is a Chrome extension: the posting happens in your browser, on your connection, under your login, which is why the browser has to stay open while a batch runs. The safety comparison covers what each architecture is actually risking.

Are Shiftly's 4,000+ users and 25× ROI figures accurate?

We have no way to check, and neither do you — that is the nature of a static figure on a marketing page, and almost every vendor in this market uses them, including two whose homepage counters are hard-coded values animated up from zero. Nothing here says Shiftly's numbers are wrong. The distinction we are drawing is between a number you assert and a number that renders from your production database and moves without your permission.

Which one answers buyer messages?

Neither. Shiftly publishes no inbox or AI reply feature, and autobook.io has none at all — no inbox, no CRM, no templates, no notifications. If replying is your bottleneck, CARVID's paid add-on, Owini and Glo3D all publish AI reply features, and neither of these two will fix it for you. One warning if you go that way: since March 2026 Meta's own assistant auto-answers "is this still available?" on Marketplace, so a bot replying "yes, it's available" now reads exactly like a bot.

What happens to my listings if I switch?

Nothing, in both directions. Marketplace listings live in your Facebook account, not in any vendor's system, so switching tools does not touch what is already published. One thing does change direction: autobook.io never removes a sold listing for you, so if you are leaving Shiftly's published sold alerts and removal behind, taking dead listings down goes back on your own list. You do not need an export either; autobook.io imports from your dealership website rather than from another tool, so setup is pasting a URL. Customers who moved from Shiftly to us exist, which is where the photo-processing description in this article comes from.

Whichever you choose: you're responsible for the accuracy of your listings and for following Facebook's Commerce Policies and your local dealer-advertising rules. These tools prepare and post listings from your own account. The listings, and the compliance, are yours. One real person, one real account — no vendor's pacing settings will rescue a duplicate one.
